Technology is making you less productive at work. Don’t believe it? Here’s an infographic from On Stride Financial that gives us a rundown on how we’ve all fallen victims to the distractions of the internet, social media, and technology and how this digital world has had adverse effects on our work output.
No matter where you work or what you do for a living, work distractions lurk, just waiting for us to once again give in to the temptation of clicking that e-mail notification, updating that FB status or checking how many retweets we’ve had on a Twitter post. Before you know it, what started out as a simple chitchat with a co-worker has suddenly taken one hour of our precious work time!
Moreover, trying to regain our concentration after getting side tracked at work adds to the amount of time lost after getting distracted. As the infographic reveals, it only takes an average of 11 minutes before we get distracted on a task, but requires about 25 minutes for us to recover our focus. Wow! Imagine if you get distracted several times during your workday!
